The Institute of Physics was founded in Shanghai in 1928 and was reestablished in Taiwan in 1962.
Currently the researches can be grouped into three major areas: Quantun Materials Physics, Physics of Active Biological Systems, Medium and High Energy Physics. Specific interests are in the areas of
1. Quantum Material Interface Microscopy and Lighography, Quantum Material and Low Temperature Physics, Spintronics, Magnetic Nanostructures and Magneto-Transport Physics.
2. Modeling, Simulations and Computational Physics, Biology-Inspired Physics, Physics of Granular Gas, Granular Flow and Granular Chain.
3. Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology, Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics.
